Acer presents the Predator X34 X5 240hz QD-OLED gaming monitor

The Acer Predator X34 X5 features a Samsung Display QD-OLED panel with an 1800R curvature and a resolution of 3440 x 1440. It boasts a 0.03ms G2G response time, a 1.5 million:1 contrast ratio, typical brightness of 250 nits, 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit color depth, and a wide color gamut covering 99% of the DCI-P3 reference space. The panel has the standard semi-glossy coating finish typical of QD-OLED displays.

The screen supports a 240Hz refresh rate with adaptive-sync for variable refresh rates (VRR) from compatible systems. It is certified under AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-sync Compatible schemes. For HDR, the OLED panel provides per-pixel level dimming, true blacks, and an essentially infinite contrast ratio, depending on ambient lighting conditions. Acer specifies a peak brightness of 1000 nits (3% APL).

When it comes to connectivity ports, the Predator X34 X5 includes 1x DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC), 1x USB Type-C (with DP Alt mode, data, and 90W power delivery), and 2x HDMI 2.1 ports (capabilities not specified). Additionally, it offers 2x USB ports and an audio output. To ensure maximum comfort, the monitor features adjustable tilt, swivel, and height, allowing users to find the perfect viewing angle in any environment. It also includes 2x 5W integrated speakers and a built-in KVM switch, making it easy to switch between two PCs with a single keyboard and mouse setup. For eye comfort, the screen is equipped with ‘BlueLightShield Pro’, flickerless, low-dimming, and ‘ComfyView’ technologies to help reduce eye fatigue.
Acer has integrated several OLED screen protection mechanisms to extend the monitor's lifespan and preserve image quality. These include Display Saver, which automatically dims the screen when inactive; Constant Brightness, a mode that maintains consistent brightness; and always-active features like Image Retention Refresh and Screen Move to minimize stuck pixels and image retention.

Acer will release the Predator X34 X5 QD-OLED gaming monitor late 2024. Pricing should be somewhere around $1100.
